EPO SEAL 100 (3/4 Gal. Unit)

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

BASIC USES: EPO Seal 100 is a tough, versatile floor sealer that may be mixed and applied in two different ways, depending upon conditions and requirements.

EPO Seal 100, as supplied, is a 2: 1 mix sealer that is non-flammable and almost odorless. It has excellent adhesion, wear and anti-dusting abilities.

EPO Seal 100 may be thinned with solvent for spray application, for increased pot life or when a primer is required. Thinned mixture will be flammable.

EPO Seal 100 provides good general chemical resistance and is recommended for warehouse floors, schools, paper and textile plants, machine shops and other concrete areas where outstanding wear qualities and low maintenance costs are of prime concern.

Non-skid properties are easily achieved by broadcasting silica sand (sandblast grade) or other abrasive into the second coat while wet and backrolling.

LIMITATIONS: Surfaces which are to be sealed must, a) be at least 50° F, b) be clean and dry, c) be structurally sound and, d) have adequate ventilation provided. If thinned, do not add more than I part solvent to 3 parts mixed sealer. New concrete must be cured a minimum of 28 days prior to sealing.

 POT LIFE:

As supplied un-thinned: 3/4-gallon at 75° F - 30-40 minutes
Reduced 25% with Xylene: 2-gallons at 75° F - 1 - 2 hours

COLOR:  Clear, medium grey, tile red and white.

GLOSS:  High gloss.

APPLICABLE STANDARDS: When coating floors and other structural surfaces subject to incidental food contact in establishments operating under the Federal Meat and Poultry Products Inspection Program notify FSIS inspector prior to installation. Meets California Rules 443 .1 and
1113.

COVERAGE: EPO Seal 100 will yield approximately 180 sq. ft. per gallon dry film thickness when applied 10 mils thick.

CHEMICAL AND SOLVENT RESISTANCE: EPO Seal 100 resists the fumes and occasional spillage of most common acids, alkalies, salts, oils and solvents. It performs excellently when subjected to the following:

Milk
Tea
Citrus Juice
Oil
Urine
Alcoholic Beverages

10% Sodium Hydroxide
18% Hydrochloric Acid
20% Sodium Hydroxide
Hardness: 72 hrs. at 77° F Sward % -40 to 50
Abrasion Resistance: 72 hours at 77° F Falling Sand: 95 to 75 liters to failure

DRY TIME: EPO Seal 100 cures dry to touch in 2 to 4 hours unreduced and 4 to 8 hours reduced 25% with solvent, at temperatures of 75° F or higher. Floor may be re-coated in 12 to 24 hours. Higher temperatures accelerate and lower temperatures retard cure times. Forklift parking requires a cure of 76 to 94 hours at 75° F.

INSTALLATION

PREPARATORY WORK: No primer is required for applying EPO Seal 100. Concrete must be free from paint, grease, oil, laitance and other contaminates prior to application. This may be done by sandblasting, scarifying, detergent cleaning, grinding or acid cleaning as required. New concrete must be free from laitance, sealers, curing compounds, etc. New concrete may be cleaned in the same manner as old concrete where required.

METHODS: EPO Seal 100 may be applied by brush, notched squeegee, or roller or may be thinned for spray application or to increase pot life. Where conditions permit the use of a solvent containing primer, EPO Seal 100 may be reduced with Acetone or Xylene to increase adhesion to concrete or wood surfaces which exhibit a tendency to dust after cleaning, are extremely porous
or where the concrete has an extremely hard finish.

APPLICATION: Two coats of EPO Seal 100 are recommended for most surfaces. Pitted or scarred concrete may require an initial, un-thinned squeegee coat to fill voids prior to application of two heavy  build  coats.

MIXING: Mixing is done by volume as follows:

100% SOLIDS NON-FLAMMABLE: Mix as supplied. Thoroughly mix separate components before combining. Mix two parts Component A to one part Component B. Mixing should be done with an electric drill and Jiffy mixer.  Care should be taken to scrape the sides and bottom of mixing containers. Mix thoroughly for 2-3 minutes. Do not mix more than can be used in 30-40 minutes.

75% SOLIDS FLAMMABLE (for primer use): Mix two parts Component A, one part Component B and one part Xylene. Mixing should be done with an air drill and Jiffy mixer to avoid sparks. Care should be taken to scrape the sides and bottom of mixing containers. Mix thoroughly for 2-3 minutes. Working pot life of flammable mix is 1 to 2 hours. (For primer use when required  and regulations  permit  or to extend pot  life.)

EQUIPMENT CLEAN UP: Clean tools and equipment immediately with commercial grade lacquer thinner, Acetone, or Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK). In California, use Acetone or 1,1,1, Trichlorethane only, or hot water and soap. Do not allow epoxy to set hard on tools and mixing equipment.

MAINTENANCE: Surfaces treated with EPO Seal 100 should be maintained by routine washing with conventional cleaners and detergents. Abrasive  and corrosive  spills should be removed as soon as possible. Floor should be routinely inspected for signs of wear or damage to the  surface film.   Damaged  areas should  be  lightly sanded after cleaning  and re-coated.

PRECAUTIONS: EPO Seal 100 is not flammable unless solvent is added, however, the cleaning and reducing solvents are. Keep solvent away from heat, open flame and pilot lights. Avoid prolonged contact with skin and breathing of vapor or spray mist from either epoxy or solvent. Use both with adequate ventilation. Keep solvent and coating out of reach of children. Thinned mixes will be flammable.  Thin only where regulations and conditions permit.
